Jeni CassJeni Cass is a Kindergarten teacher at SDGVA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Credential. She completed her Master's Degree in Reading and Language Arts and a Reading Specialist Credential from San Diego State University. She completed the Summer Leadership Institute with the San Diego Area Writing Project in 2011. Jeni Cass has eight years of teaching experience.
 
Jaclyn Brown

Jaclyn Brown is a Kindergarten teacher at San Diego Global Vision Academy. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies. She also received her Multiple Subject Credential from the same University. She completed her student teaching with SDGVA’s Kindergarten teacher, Jeni Cass, during the 2012-2013 school year. She has a passion for teaching and is excited to join the SDGVA team.

JamieJamie Jackson is a 1st grade teacher at SDGVA. She graduated from the University of San Diego (USD) with her Bachelor's in Diversified Liberal Arts and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has also earned her Master's in Education in Teaching and Curriculum from USD and completed the Summer Leadership Institute with the San Diego Area Writing Project in 2010. She has six years of teaching experience in public charter schools.

Kate Baker is a first grade teacher at SDGVA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and also received her Multiple Subject Credential. She completed her student teaching at SDGVA in first grade during the 2011-2012 school year.  She attended the San Diego Area Writing Project's study groups with fellow colleagues in 2011-2012.  She is currently taking Master’s courses through National University and plans to obtain her Master’s degree in Teaching with an emphasis in Early Childhood by Spring of 2013.

Emily Tsai is the full time 2nd grade teacher for San Diego Global Vision Academy.  She graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Education.  She has earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as Master’s Degree in Education from University of California, Los Angeles.  Her thesis focused on students’ social, emotional, and academic growth in relation to the existence and growth of a positive and nurturing classroom culture.  Emily has been involved and developing her own teaching in the education field for six years.

lauraLaura Smart is a 3rd grade teacher at SDGVA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has also earned her Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis on Reading Instruction and Curriculum Development from SDSU and she is in the process of obtaining her Reading Specialist Credential. In addition, she has completed the San Diego Area Writing Project's Summer Leadership Institute and the R.H. Fleet Science Museum Inquiry-based Teacher Training Program. She has eight years of teaching experience in the public charter school system.

Christine KaneChristine Kane is an Educational Provost and fourth grade teacher for San Diego Global Vision Academy. She has fifteen years of teaching experience in public charter schools. She is the co-director of the San Diego Area Writing Project (SDAWP), a local site of the National Writing Project at UCSD and completed the Summer Leadership Institute in 2003. She is also a part-time graduate literacy instructor for the University of San Diego (USD) and San Diego State University (SDSU). She has earned her Bachelor's in Liberal Studies, Master's in Literacy, Reading Specialist Credential and completed her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a Literacy Concentration in a joint doctoral program from USD-SDSU.
 
 
carol anderson Carol Anderson is a fourth grade teacher who has earned her undergraduate degree in OutdoorEducation and Psychology from Houghton College in New York.  She worked in the experiential educationsetting for several years before earning her teaching credential and a Master’sDegree in Best Practices from National University.  She has taught Physical Education in a public district schoolfor three years and has worked in public charter schools for two years.  She has a passion for science and has coordinated school-wide science fairs and family science nights at her local public elementary school.

Aja BookerAja Booker is a full-time fifth and sixth grade English Language Arts teacher at San Diego Global Vision Academy Middle School. She has six years of teaching experience in public charter schools. She is on the leadership team of the San Diego Area Writing Project, a local site of the National Writing Project at UCSD and completed the Summer Leadership Institute in 2009. She completed the Life Sciences Summer Institute's (LSSI) Teacher Externship from the San Diego Science Alliance in Summer 2012. She has earned her Bachelor's in Liberal Arts, Master's in Literacy, and Reading Specialist Credential from San Diego State University.

TynaBannerValentyna Banner is a Service-Learning Coordinator and a full-time fifth and sixth grade Math and Science teacher for San Diego Global Vision Academy Middle School. She has seven years of teaching experience in public charter schools. She is on the leadership team of the San Diego Area Writing Project, a local site of National Writing Project at UCSD, completed the Summer Leadership Institute in 2009 and is GATE certified. She is also a Certified Service-Learning Trainer and Coach. She completed the Life Sciences Summer Institute's (LSSI) Teacher Externship from the San Diego Science Alliance in Summer 2012. She has earned her Bachelors in Liberal Studies and Masters in Curriculum & Teaching from the University of San Diego.  She is working on her Master of Arts Degree of Education with a Concentration in K-8 Mathematics Education. 
emily vizzoEmily Vizzo is a full-time fifth and sixth grade History and Writing teacher at San Diego Global Vision Academy Middle School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCSD and also studied Spanish at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile. She began teaching in 2005, completing studies at SDSU to earn a Single Subject Credential in Social Science with an authorization in English. Ms. Vizzo is currently pursuing a graduate degree from the No. 1-ranked low-residency (distance learning) Master of Fine Arts in Writing program at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Also a licensed yoga instructor and print journalist, she has published hundreds of newspaper, magazine, and online articles and covered Congress in Washington D.C.
