English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC & DELAC)
The English Learning Advisory Committee is made up English Learner parents, a classroom educator, our English Language Development educator and our Director of Academic Achievement. Each year we open membership to all families of EL's, RFEP, or IFEP. We will accept all who are interested and they will serve as long as they are interested. We typically hold two-three meetings a year to discuss and review the following:
- Review Chronic Absenteeism Data
- Review Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Goal/Action Items
- Review Language Census Data
- Review Student Achievement Data
- Development of English Learner Site Plan
- Review Language Acquisition Programs Provided
- Review Professional Development for Teachers
- Reclassification Criteria for English Learners
- Input from Parents on Schoolwide Needs Assessment
SDGVA is a single school site and it's own Local Education Agency LEA. Our ELAC committee will also serve as our District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). Our meetings will cover all items required for both ELAC and DELAC.
The meetings are open to everyone. Interested members of the public may attend ELAC/DELAC meetings as nonvoting guests. Guests may participate in general discussions related to the educational issues of ELs as long as the topic is an agenda item.
